To download the BackupGenius™ Personal Edition installer, simply follow the below instructions:

	1. Click on the download icon on the downloads page
Internet Explorer Firefox	2. When prompted, select 'Save' to save the file to your computer
Internet Explorer Firefox	3. Once the file has completed downloading, click either 'Run' or 'Open' to begin the installation procedure

To install BackupGenius™ Personal Edition to your device follow the below instructions: (click to enlarge thumbnails)

	1. Once you have downloaded the latest version from the downloads page, double click on the .exe to run the file. You will then be asked to Select the language you wish to use.
	2. You will then be asked to agree with the licence. Please read this carefully and select 'Agree' and 'Next' to continue. The installer will then begin to open.
	3. Now you will be asked to choose which device you would like to install BackupGenius™ on and store your backup. BackupGenius™ Personal Edition allows use on drives upto and including 8GB which will store around 32GB of compressed data. For larger devies, please purchase an upgrade from the TakeWare store Please make sure the device is plugged in and select the appropriate drive letter from the right hand drop-down menu. Note: Free disk space is displayed in the status bar. BackupGenius™ can be installed alongside other files
	4. Once you have selected the destination device for your backups, click OK and BackupGenius™ will begin to install to the device. The status bar will show you a message indicating the progress.
	5. Once BackupGenius™ is installed to the device you will be displayed with a confirmation of the installation. You will also receive a pop-up message informing you the 'Getting Started' guide is opening.
	6. The BackupGenius™ Help file will be displayed with all of the information you need to create your first backup. This information is also available at www.takeware.co.uk/firsttime For registration instructions please see below

To register BackupGenius™ Personal Edition follow the below instructions: (click to enlarge thumbnails)

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR URC (Unique Restore Code) WHICH ENABLES YOU TO RESTORE YOUR BACKUPS - YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET FOR REGISTRATION

	1. Once you have downloaded the latest version from the downloads page, and installed to your device, view the drive contents and double click on the green 'B' icon. (JumpStartER.exe)
	2. You will then be asked to agree with the licence. Please read this carefully and select 'Agree' and 'Next' to continue.
	3. Now you will be asked to fill in your details you wish to register with. Please ensure to be careful when entering these details. Note: It is very important a valid email address is submitted as this is where we will send you your URC. Privacy Policy available here
	4. After entering your details you will be asked to provide a security question in case there is any reason to contact us. Note: This information is not mandatory but will help us to identify you if you need support.
	5. Registration is now complete. Unplug your device, wait a moment, then re-insert device to start backing up. You will be sent an email containing you URC. Be sure to keep this safe and secure, as this code will enable you to restore your backups.

To upgrade BackupGenius™ Personal Edition follow the below instructions: (click to enlarge thumbnails)

	1. Buy Upgrade: Once you start your BackupGenius™, the upgrade dialog will display each time until you upgrade. Just click 'Yes' on the dialog and you will be taken to the TakeWare® store (click here) with your options.
	2. Once you have bought an upgrade, you will be sent an email with details of your purchase. This is very important, keep this email safe, you will need this later.
	3. Plug in your BackupGenius™ as normal, but once backup begins, click the 'Stop' button, and click on the 'Help' tab.
	4. On the help page, click on the 'Upgrade' button
	5. The upgrade dialog box will appear. Here you need to enter the entire contents of the email received from the store into the text area. To do this, select all (Ctrl+A) the text in the body of the email, copy it (Ctrl+C) and finally paste (Ctrl+V) into the box.
	6. Now click 'Insert' to enter the upgrade details. If successful you will receive the 'Upgrade Done' message. Restart BackupGenius™ for changes to be made

Starting your BackupMaster™ or BackupGenius™ for the very first time:

	1. Plug your BackupMaster™ or BackupGenius™ into any USB port and click on My Computer
	2. Alongside the other disks you will see a new Hard Disk, just double click on this icon. (Note: The name and letter may vary)
	3. Click the GO button to start registration.*

First Backup...

Everything you need to know to use BackupMaster™ or BackupGenius™

	1. First make a backup. Yes that's right! Chances are your BackupMaster™ or BackupGenius™ has been setup and will find all your files without any help from you!  We will soon find out though - just click the Backup button. Once you've done that...
	2. Checkout the backup report - and adjust your profiles (if you need to). Your report is displayed on screen after your first backup confirming everything!
	3. Decide when you want your backups to run - scheduled or on-demand. Setup the schedule to suit yourself!

That’s it - you're done!

 *Register your BackupMaster™ or BackupGenius™
We strongly recommend that you register online as soon as possible. You will be reminded each time you plug in until you do.

REGISTRATION gives you your Unique Restore Code (URC) - remember that you cannot restore documents without it. This is so that ONLY YOU may have access to your backup.  Follow the instructions on screen and your URC will be emailed to you.
